In my practice, it is very important to me to take the time for you, to listen to you in a relaxed atmosphere, and to care for you as a patient in entirety. From the information gathered, a personalized diagnosis and therapy will be created for you.
The type of therapy not only depends on the constellation of findings but also is guided by the response and success of previous therapy or your personal preference.
In principle, conservative and medication-based strategies are fully explored first. Surgery is only recommended if it is absolutely necessary and if there is no other meaningful alternative.
All surgeries are performed using state-of-the-art technology and according to international guidelines, with a minimally invasive, minimally traumatizing, and tissue-sparing approach. These techniques have significant advantages and are not only applied in laparoscopy (= keyhole surgery), but many other procedures can be performed following this concept. They are characterized by small or barely visible scars, minimal pain, faster recovery, and significantly shorter hospital stays. Some procedures can also be done on an outpatient basis or under local anesthesia.
In addition to painless gastroskopies and colonoscopies, my main interest lies in the diagnosis as well as the strategic planning and therapy of Reflux, Thyroid-, Colon and Colorectal diseases, tumor diseases (=cancer) in the abdominal area, surgery for hernias (e.g., inguinal, abdominal wall, or diaphragmatic hernia) using the latest methods, stage-appropriate treatment of hemorrhoids with the newest, low-pain methods such as HAL/HAL-RAR or Longo, and vascular surgery involving the treatment of varicose veins and peripheral arterial disease.
Yours Dr. Winkler
